The Oscar winner sat down with the world-famous host and interviewer for her latest episode of Apple TV+‘s The Oprah Conversation, the place he opened up a few time when he’d been endlessly making an attempt to transition from the horny main man (How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days, anybody?!) to extra critical, dramatic roles.

During that powerful transition, the 50-year-old star admitted he truly nearly referred to as it quits altogether — practically pulling the plug on appearing to maneuver into a brand new profession! Whoa! Could you even think about?!

Getting actually actual with Oprah concerning the state of affairs, McConaughey revealed his profession choices (under):

“I dabbled with thinking about other careers. I dabbled with thinking about being a high school football coach, I dabbled with being a symphony orchestra leader, I dabbled with being a wildlife guide, with being a school teacher. So I dabbled with those things. I was not going back.”

Could you think about Matthew McConaughey as your native highschool soccer coach??

Ultimately, although, the proficient actor realized his irritating movie profession had been throwing up highway blocks for a cause: there was a BIG reward on the opposite aspect if he solely persevered.

The Mud star summed up why he in the end didn’t go away appearing, saying:

“But I was in. Just the same way I went to Australia for a year and stayed on a handshake, I was in. And I started to get that feeling that even though the harder this gets, this means there’s more reward on the other side. Stick with it, stay in it, don’t pull the parachute, McConaughey.”

No kidding!

Considering his profession since that time — together with high-profile work in True Detective and an Oscar nod for Dallas Buyers Club — it certain looks like he made the correct determination to stay with movie work, ya know?!

BTW, McConaughey has been very retrospective about his profession of late, what with his new memoir and all. And it’s given us some great stories and interesting insights! Always fascinating to listen to about what’s actually happening behind the scenes!
