Packers add veteran LB James Burgess to energetic roster

The Green Bay Packers moved linebacker James Burgess from the exempt/commissioner permission listing to the energetic roster, the workforce introduced Monday.

Burgess was signed by Green Bay off Atlanta’s apply squad on Saturday. To make room on the roster, the Packers waived guard Ben Braden.

Burgess, in his fourth NFL season, has appeared in 27 profession video games for Cleveland and the New York Jets. In 2019, Burgess tallied 80 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 5 passes protection and one fumble restoration for New York.

Green Bay wanted depth at linebacker after starter Christian Kirksey was positioned on injured reserve in early October. Rookie Kamal Martin made his first profession begin at linebacker on Sunday and made six tackles.
